WELCOME 2008. . .

Well its finally here - 2008.  2007 is but a memory, and it was a decent year.  Very little drama (thank god) lots of stability (thank god) and a ton of things happening out in the real world.

For a recap of what happened - here's a brief list courtesy of Info Please.  I don't remember what resource I used last year, but it is what it is.

I really haven't blogged as much as I would have liked to - does anybody though?  With all the stability in my life, the drama in my life usually centered around my relationship with the mother of my son, my son, and my parents.  There was some interesting things which happened around my soccer teams, which I'm pretty usre I've already written
about.

The big happenings for me was finally getting on a top tier soccer team (at 37 mind you) and playing well in the top tier (the 1st Division) of our soccer league.  My parents selling thier house for a pile of dough and than running into major problems with a contractor who was a family friend.  Every time I spoke to my parents, it was something new.  The house is, for the most part, finally done.  The last big project was their kitchen which was finished right before Christmas.  Of course, they had everybody over for dinner to show off 95% of the renovations which are now completed.

Hmmmmm, my son getting sent off to military school in Virginia was a biggie.  Check the school out here.  Of course it ain't cheap.  After I spoke with her telling her I wouldn't support her decision, she blurted out she was going to go back to court and get my support increased in order to get my share of the expenses for him
attending the school.  I got a good laugh after I met with an attorney and he said not to be
too concerned, since my payments would most likely go DOWN if she dragged me into court.
I think my Mom got my son a cell phone so he can call us from school.  It was funny to see him go bonzo over the thing and carry it around with him wherever he went.  He then proceeded to call his Mom every night after 7 9since its free mind you).  I don't have any problem with it, I think its cool he's so into his new gadget, he just wants to get familiar with it - which is cool.  I guess I know now how I act whenever I get some new geeky gadget and want to know every single thing about it.

I'm about to change jobs again for the new year.  I landed a development job and will be movinig over on January 21st.  I had a WordPress blog and am seriously considering using it as a play-by-play for my new job.  We'll see, we'll see.

With every new year, we need to troll out our resolutions for the coming year.  I think my big resolution last year was to really get into my blog and expand beyond the simple text
and hyperlinking and really go nuts with it.  I at least got a new theme, but am still interested
in getting Video on my blog and some other interesting things.

As with a billion other people, I've vowed to work out more and get my weight down again. Although every year, after the holidays, I get back on my diet and start eating better and of course, soccer and hockey resume shortly after the holidays.  I eat like shit every year and pack on about 4 pounds over the holidays.  I think I put on MORE this year, so my preparation for this summer is going to take a more diligent effort this year.

The guys I usually play hockey with on Friday nights decided not to continue getting ice time.  One of my friends told me it was because one of the guys running it was not getting paid and just decided to end it.  My only other option (besides joining an actual league) would be to play on Wednesday's.  I really don't know if I'm going to be up for this since they get ice time at about 9:45pm.  This means getting home around midnight and not getting to bed until about 1am.  I wouldn't mind on Thursday or Friday, but midweek can be tough to catch up the rest of the week.

The other development is my new team which was put together from the remains of the Northland Wolves squad.  Out of the 22 players on that team, we took almost the entire team to start this new team.

We played last session at Corner Kick and we ended up third in the league.  I think we only lost two games - which was a nice change of pace.  I guess the two guys running it wanted to get into a more "outdoor" league which doesn't use boards and uses a wider field so we can prepare for the outdoor season.  I'm pretty sure we waited too long before we registered with another league and now I'm feeling like we're going to get locked out and will have to wait another session before getting back in, which will be about another 2 months - YUCK!

What will 2008 bring?  Who knows, at least this past year went off without a hitch.  i can only hope for more blessings for the coming year.

God Willing of course
